MYNIC is launching its second level domain name (2LD) service starting with the Priority Entry period from 9am, 1st November 2007 till 5pm, 31st December 2007.

Moniker.com announced that it has entered into a strategic partnership with NameMedia to provide premium domains for purchase at Moniker’s MarketPlace, a full-service online domain transaction platform.
“Moniker’s partnership with NameMedia will allow our customers access to premium domains, giving them more options when acquiring a new website address,” said Monte Cahn, co-founder and CEO of Moniker.com. “Through this new partnership, Moniker’s MarketPlace will now be populated with an excess of three million domains available for purchase.” … more

The previously mentioned auction on Sedo of Iraq.com, track.com and Zimbabwe.com is rocketing on, with current bids at €600,000, US$100,000 and US$96,500 respectively. It seems Iraq is worth around eight times more than Zimbabwe, in cyberspace anyway!
I believe Sedo has announced that if the sale closes they will donate a portion of the revenue to UNICEF.

Cybersquatters, predicatbly, have beaten Apple again to key domain names relating to the iPhone prior to its launch in the UK. And even prior to the announcement. According to a report in UTalkMarketing.com, cybersquatters have been busily registering domain names relating to the iPhone and the telco.
The report notes one cybersquatter has been particularly busy in recent months, registering domains such as O2iphone.co.uk, O2iphone.net and orangeiphone.co.uk. Other examples of domain names to be registered include ukiphone.co.uk, tmobileiphone.com, 02iphone.co.uk, and iphonevodafone.co.uk. … more

Samsung, the South Korean electronics company, is embroiled in a court battle over the domain name sens.co.kr with a small local food supply company, whose name has been withheld, reports AFP.
An earlier court decision said the domain name should be transferred to Samsung, however the company is appealing this decision. … more
