Google registers G.CN in battle with Baidu
Google has registered the domain name G.CN in its ongoing battle with Baidu, the Chinese search engine and portal. Google, dominant in most of the world in search, has struggled in China against Baidu.
Currently G.CN is resolving to GOOGLE.CN. This is an interesting move by Google given, and having not been to China to check, that keyboards there don’t have the English characters as a default, so making it much easier for users to type in the URL.
