NASK logoThere are now one million .pl domain names registered, with the magical one million barrier crossed on May 6. This is the eighteenth ccTLD to pass this mark quickly following .ca in recent weeks.

“Exceeding the first million of Polish domains coincides with the fifth anniversary of launching a fully automated system of domain registration and introduction by NASK of the Partnership Programme which allows the partner companies to individually register domains in the national register .pl. Since the moment of introducing the Partnership System, we have been observing an increase of the number of registered domains and a creation of a market with active registrars”, says Andrzej Bartosiewicz, head of the NASK Internet Domains Division.

NASK, the registry for .pl domain names has some interesting services. While ICANN is currently debating how to discourage domain tasting, NASK encourages it, although there is a fee of one Polish zloty to allow the registrant to test the traffic for the domain name.

There are 95 registries for .pl including 37 of these based outside Poland.

More information on .pl domain names and the passing the one million mark is available from NASK at nask.pl/newsID/id/472.
