ICANN Approves Creation of New gTLDs

ICANN today unanimously approved the creation of new gTLDs at today’s board meeting in Paris.

The vote comes at the conclusion of the week-long meeting in the City of Light where around 1,500 people gathered to discuss the work of ICANN.

There was some reservations at the time taken to get to this stage by some board members, and some of the conditions for approving new gTLDs proved somewhat controversial, but this was not enough to convince any board members to abstain or vote against the proposal.
