Will new gTLDs cause internet user confusion?

time September 11th, 2008 by author David Goldstein

With new gTLDs on the horizon following the decision at the Paris ICANN Meeting to allow for new gTLDs, Sedo wonders whether this will confuse internet users. However their fears are misplaced.

Even though Sedo mistake the new gTLDs (generic Top Level Domains) for ccTLDs (country code Top Level Domains), it is unlikely the internet user will suffer from too much confusion. After all, there are around 250 ccTLDs and gTLDs currently in existence, and users do not seem to have too much of a problem worrying about these. So why should a few, or many, gTLDs worry them even more?
