Squatters and Scammers Take Advantage of Global Flu Scare

There are a growing number of reports of cybercriminals taking advantage of the global flu scare, including a number of dubious domain name registrations that make reference to the “swine flu”.

Among those monitoring the dubious domain name registrations are McAfee and F-Secure. On a blog posting, F-Secure has made a list of several hundred domain names that include “swine flu”, including a link to registrations over the past weekend.

Meanwhile McAfee have “aid domain name registrations mentioning the word ‘swine’ were up by about 30 times. One of the new sites, noswineflu.com, offers a dodgy ‘Swine Flu Prevention Guide’ for $US19.95,” reports The Sydney Morning Herald.
