Sedo Facing Competition On Weekly Domain Sales Chart

Posted by: David Goldstein    Tags:  Afternic, Domain Name Journal, Go Daddy Auctions, Sedo    Posted date:  December 26, 2012  |  No comment

Domain Name Journal logoIt’s getting close to the end of the year for reporting on domain name sales and it seems buyers may already be in holiday mode. There were four weeks in a row of six-figure sales topping the sales charts in November/December, but last and this week (week ending 5 December) both got nowhere near that figure.

In the week ending 5 December, the top reported sale was a two-way tie with hotelsguide.com and luxresorts.com each selling for $60,000 each through Sedo and in a private sale respectively.

Equal third was another two-way tie with funlife.com and mymoda.com both selling for a still impressive $50,000 each, both through Go Daddy Auctions.

In the list of the top 23 reported sales (a four-way tie for 20th position), Sedo unusually didn’t top the weekly chart with the most sales, only accounting for five sales, beaten by Go Daddy Auctions with six sales. Third was Afternic with four sales.

Among the TLDs, .com was more than its usual dominant self with 20 of the top 23 sales as well as one each for a very unusual inclusion, .net.au, as well as .nl and .com.au.
