New gTLD Initial Evaluations Pass 1000

ICANN new generic Top Level Domains logoICANN announced Wednesday the number of generic Top Level Domain Applications that have passed Initial Evaluation have now passed 1000.

In their announcement, ICANN said 1006 applications have now passed the Initial Evaluation, with 97 passing in the past five days, and no failures.

It also means that ICANN have passed the halfway mark in their Initial Evaluations. Originally there were 1930 applications for 1409 strings. Since then, according to The Domains, there have been 82 applications that have either not passed the initial evaluation, failed or have been sent for extended evaluation.
