The northern hemisphere summer is a quieter time for domain name sales, but one that struck it big was dcc.com, which sold for $198,000 in a private sale, to be the top sale on the Domain Name Journal chart of top reported sales for the week ending 9 July.
Coming in second and third was strahovka.com (insurance in Russian) and hours.com which sold for $62,000 and $31,000 through YesNames/Efty and Flippa respectively. And what appears to have been bigger, but is unable to be reported, is a one letter .com sale, no doubt at least for 7 figures.
Flippa released to a number of previously unreleased sales and as a result took out 12 of the top 21 (there was a tie for 20th place) sales with 4 to Sedo and DomainMarket 2. On the TLD side of things there were 19 .com sales and one each for .net and .org.
