Following speculation in a few blog posts, the .CLUB registry has clarified in an announcement that there will be 3 annual increases in the registry fee commencing 1 July 2019.
In their announcement, .CLUB note that since their launch in May 2014, the registry or wholesale fee has been $8.05. On 1 July 2019 this will rise to $8.95, on 1 July 2020 to $9.45 and 1 July 2021 to $9.95.
This represents a price increase of a total of $1.90 over the course of 8 years, or just over 23%.
Since its launch .club is one of the few new generic top level domains (new gTLDs) to have shown consistent growth and currently domain names under management are 1.607 million, making it the fourth largest of the new gTLDs and one of only 5 with more than one million DUM. It also prides itself on not giving away any domain names.
As always, whether the increase, all, part, none or an even greater increase, is passed on to registrants is up to the .club registrars and resellers.
