The biggest and most important event on the domain name calendar for the German-speaking countries is happening next week in the north Tyrolean city of Innsbruck where a few hundred people are expected to attend the 2-day event, this year hosted by nic.at.
Domain Pulse, which rotates between being hosted by DENIC (.de) and SWITCH (.ch), is held every February and is a great place to meet friends and colleagues, not just from the domain name industry in the German-speaking countries, but also further afield, including your Australian correspondent! This year it will be held on 20 and 21 February.
Day one is dedicated to the question of what future will bring in terms of technology, Internet governance and the world of work – and where the forecasts come from! On the second day, the issue of risk will be highlighted – how much are we prepared to take in our personal lives, careers and as a society? And at what price? Most of the sessions will be in German, but fortunately for us non-German speakers and particular the English ones, those sessions will be simultaneously translated into English. Some sessions will be in English and they’re noted in the programme. There’s also the always fabulous evening event. And all of this is for free. All participants have to do is get themselves to Innsbruck and book their hotel! The conference will be held at the Congress Innsbruck and links to local hotels are included on the conference website.
