It came to light after publication of the weekly chart of top reported sales, but the sale of xa.com to Chinese company XAG for ¥12,000,000 ($1,794,152) was first noticed in the week ending 14 April, which means that even though it sold in late 2018, it ousted accidentattorney.com from top spot on the Domain Name Journal chart. It’s the second biggest reported sale of the year to date, only bested by California.com which sold for $3 million in January.
So following xa.com was accidentattorney.com, which sold for $150,000 through GoDaddy was promethium.com ($71,842) in a private sale and ia.de (€55,000/$62,150) through Sedo, which at the time was the largest country code top level domain (ccTLD) sale of the year to date, but is now bested by another .de domain sale.
In this week’s top 21 reported sales there were 14 sales through Sedo, with no other outlet having more than one sale. On the TLD side of things there were 16 .com domain names and one each for .de, .nl, .tv, .org and .app.
