NIC Chile Responds To Coronavirus Giving Registrants More Time

With COVID-19 (coronavirus) wreaking havoc around the world, NIC Chile has given registrants of .cl domain names some respite in case they’re not able to pay for their domain name renewal in time before they would normally be deleted for non-payment.

NIC Chile announced they will delay deactivation and subsequent cancellation of domain names that registrants have not paid for the renewals. They note the greatest difficulty for registrants could be those that usually renew in person at SERVIPAG, even though their preferred means of payment is online.

The Chilean country code top-level domain (ccTLD) administrator advises their offices are not open to the public, but that their service channels are operating normally via phone, email and chat.
